Dad is out of the hospital and back home with us. He's pretty weak, and a bit sore in some spots (incisions) but doing pretty well, considering he just went through major surgery Thursday.
Do I think he was discharged too soon? ABSOLUTELY!
Do I think he will recover faster here with us? ABSOLUTELY!
I am not pleased with the level of care he received once he got to his actual hospital room - - it was the same floor he was on after his last surgery, and I wasn't happy with his care then, either . . . in fact, I have the name of the Nursing Administrator, and I believe she and I will be having a chat soon.
More later - - right now, we are exhausted, and I need to get some rest. But first I need to make sure Dad takes his mountain of meds . . . *sigh*

You know, as much as it costs to stay in a hospital per day you would think you would get *at least* the level of service you get a Hiltons or something.
The state of medicine in the States sucks. mightily. And so you're right, he'll get much better care with you all.
Oh, I'm sorry about that. A bad hospital stay is never a good thing. When my oldest sister had her hip replaced in Dallas, her husband through a hissy fit. She was in SO much pain and he kept telling the nurses her morphine pump wasn't working and they would NOT listen! He finally got a wheelchair, packed her up and was leaving, and when they asked him what he was doing, he told them he could find her better drugs, and take better care of her at home than they could EVER do in that hospital.
All patients deserve the best of care. That's why those people are in the health care profession, right?
I hope you AND your dad are getting lots of rest, and that he is doing better ... thinking of you!
Take care Dad and you take care of yourself.
